Village Eulogia Summer Internship Positions 2024


Family Group and Parent Program Intern

(July 8th, 2024 - August 18, 2024; 30 hours a week)

This 6-week internship opportunity will give you hands-on experience in facilitating activities and programs for family groups and activities for parents. You will plan and explore, under the guidance of a mentor, ways to engage with and support parents raising someone with a disability. This experience is sure to give you a taste of the field of family support services and ministry.

Pre-requisites:

  • Passion and experience in programming for families and individuals with disabilities

  • Compassion and understanding of the responsibilities and commitment required to raise someone with a disability

  • Strong leadership, time management, creativity, and program development skills

  • Applicants must be between age 18 and 30 to be considered to meet the government grant criteria

  • Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act 2 as per government grant criteria

  • Obtain a vulnerable Sector Check clearance

  • Computer skills: Microsoft Office, Google Drive, Email, Social Media

  • Must have biblical understanding and knowledge

  • Fluent in English. Functional Cantonese and/or Mandarin, and/or Spanish is an asset

  • Must be willing to work in an overnight camp for a week outside the city of Toronto.

  • Must have a reliable source of transportation and be willing to travel outside of and within Toronto to attend in person meetings, trainings, and field studies.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and facilitate programs, activities, engagement and support for parents & caregivers raising someone with a disability

  • Lead the camp team in planning and creating family group activities (worships, camp fires, outdoor activities)

  • Assist the program director as needed.

  • Demonstrate the ability to work well under pressure and meet all time-sensitive tasks both independently and as a team

  • Attend all orientations, debriefs, team meetings, trainings, and field studies held virtually and/or in person.

  • Daytime, evening, and weekend flexibility required

  • Engage with the community through social media

  • Assist the volunteer team with supervising campers

Youth and Adult with Disabilities Program Intern

(July 8th, 2024 - August 18, 2024; 30 hours a week)

This 6-week Internship is an opportunity for you to gain hands-on experience in creating and facilitating programs for a diverse group of individuals with disabilities at Camp Eulogia under the guidance of a mentor. This internship will grow your understanding and skills in working with youth and adults with disabilities in camp and ministry settings.

Pre-requisites:

  • Passion and experience programming for youth and adults with disabilities

  • Strong leadership, time management, creativity, and program development skills

  • Managing behaviour escalations using crisis intervention techniques is an asset

  • Applicants must be between age 18 and 30 to be considered to meet the government grant criteria

  • Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act 2 as per government grant criteria

  • Computer skills: Microsoft Office, Google Drive, Email, Social Media

Camp Coordinator Intern

(July 8th, 2024 - August 18, 2024; 30 hours a week)

The 6-week internship is an opportunity for you to gain hands-on experience in creating and facilitating programs for siblings of children with disabilities and planning activities for individuals of all ages with and without disabilities at Camp Eulogia under the guidance of a mentor. This internship will grow your understanding and skills in working with families, children, youth, and young adults, and with accommodating disabilities in camp and ministry settings.

Pre-requisites:

  • Able to support / mentor siblings of individuals with disabilities

  • Experience in creating and facilitating children and/or youth programs

  • Demonstrate an understanding of the lived experiences of families of individuals with disabilities.

  • Strong leadership, time management, creativity, and program development skills

  • Applicants must be between age 18 and 30 to be considered to meet the government grant criteria

  • Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act 2 per government grant criteria

  • Must have biblical understanding and knowledge

  • Demonstrate the ability to work well under pressure and meet all time-sensitive tasks both independently and as a team

  • Attend all orientations, debriefs, team meetings, trainings, and field studies

  • Daytime, evening, and weekend flexibility required

  • Conduct family orientation sessions and volunteer training

  • Assist the volunteer team with supervising campers

  • Engage with the community through social media
