Newsletter December 2024

As we head towards the close of 2024, Village Eulogia would like to THANK everyone for their support. Your contributions of time, talent and funds has made this a great year for VE.

We hosted multiple in-person events for families and friends of VE (including mini golf, bowling, Ripley’s, picnics and BBQ’s, camp orientation, 2 overnight camps, a camp reunion, worship and game days, our AGM, a successful fundraiser walk/roll and a Christmas event) and virtual prayer. We welcomed several church groups and families to retreat at our VE cottages. We continued renovating and upgrading our cottages. We had team members, family members and volunteers involved in spreading the word about disability and faith and about VE through info booths and presentations at conferences. We welcomed some new families and some new volunteers to VE.

We look forward to embarking on the year 2025 together with you. May God bless you all no matter what challenges you're going through. “May the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all.” 2 Corinthians 13:14

Don't forget in the midst of all, we rejoice and celebrate in the love, hope and faith of the birth of our Lord Jesus Christ during this Christmas season because He forever loves us. If you're touched by our ministry because of the prompt of our Holy Spirit, please consider donating to us. May God bless you all.

With thanksgiving,
Rita Cheng
President and Chairman of Village Eulogia

In October 2024, we hosted Moveathon - our yearly walk/roll fundraiser. We were joined by 45+ family members, volunteers, and friends of families and volunteers for a beautiful stroll through parkland in Markham followed by socializing and food. We set an ambitious goal of $30,000. As of Nov, we have raised $27,319

In Nov 2024, families and volunteers gathered at Splitsville to test their talents as bowlers and to socialize. There were 35+ attendees who enjoyed some friendly competition while cheering their team mates on. We welcomed a couple of new families to VE this event. We hope to see them at upcoming events.

In Dec 2024 we hosted a Christmas event which included worship, communion, lunch, games and crafts and time to socialize. There were 85+ attendees at this event. Thank you to the volunteers who helped with setup and clean up, kitchen chores, running games, hosting the worship, etc… Christmas is our largest event of the year after summer camps. It is the time when we come together to celebrate the story of the birth of Christ and what that has meant in our lives.

It is also a time for us to reflect on the year that has almost finished. Did VE accomplish what it had hoped to? As families and volunteers, have we been uplifted by our involvement with Village Eulogia and have we remembered to share that gratitude with others. During our worship, a couple of family units shared a few words about the Christmas themes of Joy, Peace, Love, Hope, and what Village Eulogia has meant to them.

We are already planning great events and activities for 2025. VE virtual prayer happens the first Sunday of every month at 7:30 am. Contact scardenas@villageeulogia.com for more details.  Click here to see our tentative Save the Dates schedule.

Introducing the Village Eulogia blog. In Dec 2024, we launched our first blogs. Thank you to Sandy Ho for her posts. We are looking to add additional authors in 2025. Our goal is to cover topics relevant to families, to our volunteers, and to our faith & disability community. If you want to write something to share through us, or if you have topics you want to suggest, please email lleyland@villageeulogia.com.

As we await Jesus' momentous birth and the closing of 2024, let us all remember that life is what we make of the Lord’s plan for us. We can be stronger, braver and more joyful together. We need to continue to pray for the many troubles in the world around us and to actively seek those things that we can be grateful for like the support Village Eulogia continues to receive from others, the support families and volunteers provide to one another, and the love and forgiveness the Lord provides for us always. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. We look forward to connecting with you in 2025.
